Introducing my new novel project "Kingdom Come"
I have been working on this book in my mind for so many years but it's finally taking shape. Just wanted to get in the habit of writing about it and get feedback and advice from the community.
Hey everyone, no particular topic today except my new novel that is currently in the works called “Kingdom Come”. The novel follows the adventures of Mary, a teenage girl who experiences miraculous powers and reaches out for help. Instead of answers, Mary is imprisoned in a mental institution where she meets the charismatic Ariel.
I am particularly excited to put together this (young adult) fiction series as it will be in a very niche category: “Christian” Science Fiction. Even though I write about deconstruction of faith and often negatively about religion, I have always wanted to do something like this. Assume all the miracles, myth and magic is real and write that into a novel.
I will be writing for a young adult (which is often read by adults also) so I don’t want something controversial, just a fun adventure featuring amazing characters (some with amazing powers). It will also be a chance for me to finalise some experimental projects I worked on prior to this, as they serve as inspiration I guess.
I will consider posting some of the novel on Substack or at least updates on how it’s going.
I am looking for potential draft readers (or beta readers) and possibly an editor at some point.
Kingdom Come will be the first in a series of (initially) three novels. I am planning those also so I can continue from this book. I already have names for them but I won’t share that yet. I also find this a healthy way to share an experience about God without being religious. Kingdom Come will be a Christian superhero novel with a difference.
For those who are going through a deconstruction of their faith, I assure you my series is not about promoting religion or religious ideas. It’s a book to be enjoyed by people of faith and people of no faith, sharing in some of the mythology that surrounds Christianity, Jesus and his family and the apostles.
At the moment I am deep into chapter planning and the entire first half of the novel is planned out. The second half is where it gets even more exciting! Let me know in the comments if you would like to hear regularly how my novel writing journey is progressing.
I am a full-time Dad as well so this will not be a quick process! I will however be super proud of myself if I can get it done and then try to get it published.
Thanks for reading and make sure to subscribe for regular updates from me as well as discussions on mental health, religion and more.
